CLUG talk: Linux at UCT: proxy configuration & a tour of the LEG mirrors

Date: 10 June 2014
Topic: Linux at UCT: proxy configuration & a tour of the LEG mirrors
Speaker: Adrianna Pińska & Stefano Rivera
Time: 18:30
Venue: UCT Chemical Engineering Basement

This Tuesday we will describe how you can get all your applications to work with UCT’s troublesome NTLM proxy — not just your browser, but also command-line utilities like wget, apt and pip.

We will also discuss the current state of the UCT-based Linux Enthusiasts’ Group, and show you how to configure your system to use LEG’s campus mirrors (for faster package downloads that don’t eat through your download quota).

If you are a UCT student and you would like to get more involved in LEG, this is the meeting for you! We would love to hear your ideas for building a Linux user community at UCT.

Afterwards some of us will as usual move the discussion to a post-talk dinner at a restaurant — we pick the venue at the last minute by acclamation. Please join us — everyone is welcome!
