Topic: Simple, cheap and open source Internet of Things
Speaker: Peter Retief
Time: 6:30 pm
Venue: UCT Chemical Engineering Seminar Room, ground floor
Peter will talk about simple and cheap open source solutions for controlling devices and sensors — a powerful new direction of technology which is also known as the Internet of Things (IoT).
Peter will demonstrate how hardware products like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, a variety of sensors and ESP8266 wifi can be used with software including NodeRed and Android/Twitter.
Bring your ideas and see how easily they can be put into practice!
Directions to the venue can be found here.
After that, some of us will probably go to dinner somewhere — venue to be decided on the spur of the moment.
Hope to see you there!
